i bought the CDs that were on sale at walgreens. they were ridiculously decorated with pink and green and orange. they were probably on sale because they are only compatible with computers. whoops. i am re-burning for those friends that don't listen to music on their computer, luckily most do.
contributor introductions are on the horizon.
and here is a treat from one of the artists i sent out.

the music
i thought a lot about the music. not surprising. who to give who. what would inspire. i chose artists that i enjoy and tried to pair them with people that didn't know their music. it was hard with the people whose musical tastes i don't know. for those i opted for the old standby's. who wouldn't be inspired by the live energy of otis redding or the power of karen dalton. after i chose which artists i wanted i labored over lining everyone up appropriately. i drafted a few lists and finally when i felt mostly satisfied i started collecting the tracks i wanted to use. then came the arrangements.
final draft #1
final draft #2
i find these sorts of activities simultanously pleasing and frustrating. putting track lists together for the compilations for so long was a laborious and eventually gratifying job. i find it of the upmost importance and thus am obsessively critical of my results.
the art will arrive in the new year.

echolocations #2
the new echolocations project is well underway. the letter that buttered up my busy and creative friends went out a month ago. then the responses and then the music.
the project goes a little something like this:
introductory letter is sent to artists of all sorts and sizes.
artist expresses interest.
artist is sent a cd with musical treats.
tracks inspire.
art is created.
creation is sent to me.
creation is published here.
