music
Hello all. Sorry to have been so dreadfully bad at posting lately. Last week I went up to beautiful Orcas Island and have been slowly getting back on track. Here are a few quick looks at some recent albums that I have received in the mail:
The first comes from one of my favorite labels: Carpark Records. Some artists that have been featured from Carpark and sister label Paw-Tracks are Dan Deacon, Tickley Feather, and Panda Bear. Expecting a similar electronic feel I was quite surprised by the soft vocals and guitar of Baltimore's Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez's Why is Bear Billowing? I'm not prone to make comparisons between artists when reviewing them but for all you InRadio subscribers who liked Tom Brosseau back on InRadio 3.6: Wishbone, Alvarez and his delicate songs are the CD for you.
Listen To Track:A Magic
The second CD is from a band that I saw open up for the Detroit Cobras when I was in Minneapolis last month. Let me preface that this will not be for everyone. Opening up for the likes of rock band The Detroit Cobras, Les Sans Culottes seemed more parts pop than rock. But on hearing Le Weekender the rock in their music emerged. After a visit to Paris the founding member of LSC, Clermont Ferrand, was so inspired by the French pop music that he was exposed to that on returning to Brooklyn he started his own version of a French pop band. Ten years later they are still at it, putting on energetic and fun shows along the way.

One last quick note. Bodies of Water who were featured on 5.1: Opportunity have released their debut full length CD on beloved Secretly Canadian Records. If you enjoyed the choral rises and falls of ''These Are The Eyes' then you are sure to enjoy A Certain Feeling.
